Low-Level Laser Therapy (Photobiomodulation) for

Fertility & Women’s Health

Evidence-Based Education, Clinical Insight & Practitioner Training

This page was created to provide both practitioners and patients with more thoughtful, evidence informed perspective on low-level laser therapy, fertility-focused photobiomodulation and women's health

Photobiomodulation (PBM), also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), is an emerging area of medicine and research that is gaining increasing attention in fertility and women’s health.

For years, I have integrated low-level laser therapy into clinical fertility care while also educating practitioners on how to thoughtfully and responsibly use this technology in practice.

My goal is not to promote hype or exaggerated claims, but to help both patients and practitioners better understand what photobiomodulation is, what the research currently suggests, and why proper education matters.

While interest in red light therapy and laser devices has exploded online, much of the information available to the public is oversimplified, misleading, or lacking clinical nuance. Device quality, wavelength, dosing, tissue depth, treatment parameters, and safety all matter, and these variables are often overlooked in consumer marketing.

This page was created to provide a more grounded, clinically informed perspective on PBM for fertility and reproductive health.

What Is Photobiomodulation (PBM)?

Photobiomodulation (PBM), also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) refers to the use of specific wavelengths of light to influence cellular activity and support tissue function. Depending on the wavelength, power, pulsing, and dose delivered, light may affect mitochondrial activity, circulation, inflammation, cellular signaling, and tissue repair processes.

PBM is currently being explored in many areas of medicine and rehabilitation, including:

  • musculoskeletal injuries

  • neurological rehabilitation

  • wound healing

  • pain management

  • inflammation

  • fertility and reproductive medicine

In fertility care, researchers have explored whether PBM may help support ovarian function, circulation, tissue health, and reproductive outcomes. While research is still evolving, interest in this area continues to grow internationally.
