FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
What Is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine is an integrative approach that looks at why illness happens and aims to restore health by addressing the root causes. Functional medicine sees your body as one interconnected system. I take time to listen, investigate, and guide your healing from the inside out.
At Copley Acupuncture, I believe that true healing begins by understanding the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. Functional Medicine is a patient-centered, systems-based approach that looks deeper than conventional medicine—seeking to uncover the root causes of imbalance, chronic illness, or dysfunction.

If you’re feeling unheard, frustrated by vague symptoms, or looking for a more holistic approach to chronic illness, hormonal health, fatigue, digestive issues, or fertility challenges, Functional Medicine may be the path you’ve been seeking.
I have my Master's in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from The New England School of Acupuncture, a 4- year accredited acupuncture school graduating in 2000. I further continued my Functional Medicine education at Functional Medicine University with a degree as a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP) and have completed the year-long Kharrazian Institute Clinical Mastership Program in Functional Medicine.
How Functional Medicine Differs
Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on managing symptoms or isolated diagnoses, Functional Medicine asks:
-
Why is this symptom happening?
-
What is the underlying cause?
-
How do all systems of the body interact?
I spend time investigating patterns, histories, and lab results to understand how your body functions as a whole.
Your Functional Medicine Journey
Your journey begins with an in-depth consultation and a comprehensive review of your blood labs—including advanced markers that most traditional providers do not assess. These tests help paint a full picture of your metabolic, hormonal, inflammatory, and immune status.
From there, we may dive deeper into specialized testing, which may include:
-
Comprehensive hormone panels (including DUTCH testing)
-
Gut microbiome analysis
-
Nutritional and micronutrient status
-
Toxicity or mold exposure
-
Stress and adrenal function
Every step is personalized, evidence-based, and rooted in curiosity and care.
Functional Fertility: A Deeper Look into Your Reproductive Health
We also offer a Functional Fertility track for individuals and couples trying to conceive. Fertility is more than ovulation and sperm count—it’s a mirror of your entire system’s health.
With Functional Fertility, we go far beyond the standard workup by evaluating:
-
Full blood chemistry with fertility-specific markers
-
DUTCH hormone testing for adrenal and sex hormone balance
-
Gut microbiome health to assess inflammation, nutrient absorption, and immune modulation
-
Thyroid function, autoimmune activity, and other hidden imbalances
This integrated lens can help identify subtle roadblocks that may be overlooked in conventional fertility evaluations.
